Phil @ FIME2015, Sao Paulo

This week I was given an amazing opportunity. I've been invited to present my Raspberry Pi/Pure Data project, 'this this', at the first Festival Internacional de Música Experimental in Sao Paulo, July 21-31 2015. This will be my first performance outside of the UK, and my first at a major music festival. Here's what 'this this' sounds like.

The organisers have offered some money to help with production costs, and I'm putting some of my own money into it. But, the world of experimental music is what it is, and because of the general lack of money floating around, and the short notice, travel is expensive (£900+), and there's a considerable gap in costs.

I'm hoping to raise £600 to plug this gap. The money will be used to travel from my home in London to the festival in Sao Paulo.

Why do I deserve your money? Read on...

Brunel - I've been developing the project at Brunel University's music department. The department has links with South America, and my attendance at FIME will help strengthen and create new contacts with Brazilian and South American artists.

Research - 'this this' deals with issues of identity and cultural residue. I'm putting together a PhD proposal for Brunel, and 'this this' forms the first part of that project. My invitation to FIME is a rare chance for me to test my ideas in an environment that's totally new and unknown to me.

Personal Development - I work hard and push myself to make interesting music, and chances like this don't come around very often!
