Mercy's Mission Trip to China

A couple years ago I was blessed with the opportunity to spend a summer doing mission work in Japan. The impact this trip had on my life would be difficult to overstate. One of the many effects it had was to place a hunger on my heart to continue experiencing what God is doing across the world and to take part in this kingdom work with my own hands. I have been praying for quite some time about where God could use me next, and felt like it was once again time to dedicate a summer to a mission trip. Through a series of unexpected events I have found myself preparing for another overseas ministry venture in China, and I can hardly express my excitement.

What will I be doing? I will be working with a university as the instructor of a five week summer course designed to teach Chinese college students conversational English. 

Teaching English is the practical side of the trip. The people in charge of this program are Christians and see it as a way to minister to Chinese college students in the name of Christ. Due to the Chinese government’s policies and restrictions, the staff cannot directly call it a mission trip, or clearly reference anything related to Christian beliefs. However, the program is designed to allow Chinese people to be ministered to with truth and love while simultaneously teaching them something practical. I am both nervous and excited to be a part of this “undercover” ministry opportunity.

China is very far away, and it will take a lot of prayer and financial work to get me there. I know that I can do nothing by my own power, so I am asking for your prayers and support as I endeavor to follow God on this big adventure. I know that nothing is impossible when we align ourselves to the will of the Father, so I ask for the grace of your support as I seek wisdom and all I will need to be an effective minister in China.
