Restorative Accountability

In 1977 I was the victim of an offender released through the intervention of a Restorative and Community Justice organization in Ames Iowa. I was sexually molested by my offender because Restorative and Community Justice practitioners failed to assess the risks my offender posed to the community. Because they perceived prisons and courts as worse for the offender than the crime was for me, the victim, they kept the offenses against me from the court. Since 2006 I have been researching the risks in implementing the policies and practices promoted by Restorative Justice. Since 2013 I have been presenting at the National Conference on Community and Restorative Justice to highlight the risks and to propose regulations and procedures to protect the community.
My paper has been accepted to the 2015 conference to be held June 1, 2 and 3 2015 in Fort Lauterdale, Florida. Help me cover the cost of the conference, hotel and travel to carry my message to those who need to hear it most.
