JT's Medical Fund

My father, JT Donegan, is an incredible human being. He is by far the most giving and kind-hearted individual I have ever met and to those who know him, I expect their opinion would be no less.  There is no way I could repay him for all he has done for me.  As some of you may know, over the past year he has been struggling with some health issues and his insurance premiums had increased to astronomical rates. When it came down to it, he had to make the difficult decision to keep it or cancel. After much thought and a financial evaluation, this luxury could no longer be afforded. On Thursday March 12th, he showed signs of extreme fatigue and was having difficulty breathing so I rushed him to the emergency room atPorter Hospital. Upon admittance to the hospital and after further evaluation, it was determined that he had 3 blocked coronary arteries, a faulty mitral valve, arterial flutter and arterial fibrillation. Given his uninsured status, I immediately did some research and was able to find him some coverage that was to take effect at midnight on March 12th. We received confirmation of his coverage and in the subsequent days the doctor determined that he would have to undergo open heart surgery. On March 17th, my dad underwent a complex operation which included a triple bypass, ablation of the right/left ventricles, and a ring placed around his mitral valve. With great surgical precision and a little luck of the Irish (it was St. Patty's Day after all), the procedure went well and he was on his way to a full recovery  in the intensive care unit. On March 21st while recovering his heart unexpectedly stopped and after CPR and an electrical shock they got him back. He is to have another procedure to receive a defibrillator tomorrow to prevent the heart from stopping again. We thought the worst was over, but unfortunately we were recently informed by the hospital finance team that JT was not covered by his insurance due to pre-existing medical conditions. This news was extremely frustrating, specifically given the fact that we were not informed of this caveat before signing him up for the plan. As his loving daughter, I feel an enormous amount of pressure and responsibility to help him through this as he has helped me through many hardships in my life.  I unfortunately do not have the financial resources to cover his debts, so I am requesting donations from friends and family to help him cover the exorbitant medical bills he is likely to face in these coming months. I know these are tough times and many are struggling themselves, and anything that you can spare will be greatly appreciated. God bless and please pray for JT!
