With the holiday season approaching, Mitch and Tessica Peters are thankful every day for their three beautiful children: Gabby (5), Lance (3), and Sawyer (10 months).
To say this amazing family has had their fair share of medical hardships would be an understatement. With each pregnancy Tessica has had stressful complications. With her last pregnancy, she spent five weeks in the hospital before Sawyer was born. They spent last Christmas in a hotel near Mayo in Rochester.
Gabby Jo has a rare autoimmune disease, called ITP (a blood platelet disorder). For the past three years she has had countless appointments for blood draws. She has also been hospitalized for IVIG therapy infusions. Sawyer was born premature, and was in the NICU for 12 days. He has a club foot, so he’s had 5 casts and now wears braces. He has been hospitalized three times (once for a full week) for liver failure, blood transfusions, and surgeries. He is now in stage 3 liver failure. With continued prayers he is doing well, but his medical appointments are frequent, and Mitch and Tessica are juggling full-time jobs as an electrician and second-grade teacher on top of making it to several appointments each week. The medical bills have piled up over the years because of the ambulance rides, surgeries, appointments, and hospital stays. They owe over $20,000 currently.
Ideally, Tessica would be able to stay home to care for Sawyer and make it to the many appointments for Gabby and Sawyer with a little less stress. However, she carries the insurance, so she continues to teach each day with energy and passion. She is truly an amazing woman. Even with everything they are going through, Mitch and Tessica will be the first to ask how others how they are doing and if there is anything they can do to help others. We would like to try to raise enough money so that insurance costs could be covered and she would have the opportunity to stay home with Sawyer.
Please consider donating to the Peters family. Mitch and Tessica have not asked us to do this. We would like to give them the funds as a Christmas gift from everyone wanting to help a family in need. This money would mean so much to them. More than anything, they want healthy children, but this money would help with medical bills, gas for driving to Rochester multiple times a week for appointments, loss of wages from missing work, and insurance costs.
