My Book Project

Donation protected
I am 68 years old and I was born and raised in Texas. My hobbies include writing, reading, shopping with my grandchildren, exercising and embroidery. I also enjoy gardening and collecting recipes from magazines.

Collecting cookbooks and cooking go hand in hand for me. Baking cookies, coffee cakes and brownies are a favorite past time.

I then enrolled in a mail correspondence course through The Institute of Children's Literature and on October 2, 1991 I wrote my first assignment. I graduated on March 16, 1994.

I always dreamed of writing children's books, but never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever get to publish one. There was always something that got in the way of publishing my first children's book and I always had to put it on the back burner. That is, until now.

Synopsis:

A birthday is a celebration of life; the day you were born. It means eating cake, ice cream and getting to do your favorite things. But how will Peter the Rabbit celebrate his birthday? Find out how family and friends make Peter’s birthday special in my children’s book.

Excerpt:

“Peter,” Mrs. Rabbit asked. “Would you bring a nice apple pie over to our new neighbor’s, to make them feel welcome?”

“Sure Mom,” Peter said. And he took one of the apple pies, cooling on the windowsill. “I was just going over there to play with George & Katie Rabbit, who are about my age.”

As I was writing, I dreamed of publishing this book to spark an interest for children's love of reading.

So, I have chosen an assisted self-publisher and I want to get what I need for me and my book to be successful. I have chosen LifeRich Publishing, an imprint of Reader’s Digest.

LifeRich Publishing is committed to helping both aspiring and established writers translate their skills,      wisdom and experiences into published books. With LifeRich, I will have access to exciting and inspiring opportunities to succeed in the publishing world.

With tailored publishing packages for fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks and children’s books, I can make publishing and promotional choices that are specific to my book’s genre and audience.

Whether in print or online, Reader’s Digest can help me promote my book to a wide audience of passionate and curious people.

The experts at Reader’s Digest have developed a suite of online resources to provide me with all the industry know-how I need to publish with confidence.

The package I have chosen includes illustrations. This publishing package costs $4,799. It would give me everything I need, including: Worldwide Distribution to over 40,000 online retailers, format and design of the book and e-book, the printing and some marketing as well. Plus – I get an entire team of people to help me with my project! Professionals from the traditional publishing world!

I am looking to have all the funds together, by the end of this year at the latest.

I am so excited to be starting this journey and hope that together – we can reach this goal, so this book will be available for purchase! I appreciate comments, thoughts, ideas and of course – your supported funding.

Keep on the lookout for updates regarding the project, and thank you all so much for your love and support.
