Peace Pantry New Building Fund

The Cedar Hill Peace Pantry has outgrown our building. We have purchased land nearby and now need to raise funds via grants and donations to build a larger building to better serve our community and offer even more services. We have been very blessed with the generosity of our community over the last several years and hope you all will be able to stretch to give us a bit more now.
The Peace Pantry is a food pantry that has been serving the Cedar Hill, Dittmer, Grubville, Catawissa areas and beyond since the 1990’s. Since that time, the Pantry has continued to grow and add services. The Pantry is now serving over 110 families per week. It is an all-volunteer organization that provides groceries as well as clothing and other essentials operating out of a building in Cedar Hill that is extremely crowded. Clients have to wait outside in the rain, snow and heat for food on serving days. When we get food deliveries, we need to shuffle food to different shelves to make room for food to be given to clients in one place. Storage space is completely full. We have two outbuildings to store donated clothing, furniture and other household items for our clients and for sale but they are totally inadequate. This greatly restricts our ability to take donations for our clients and for fund raising.
The new building will be located on 8.5 acres on South Industrial Drive near the intersection with State Road 30 in Cedar Hill. The property backs up to the Big River.
It will include:
- expanded pantry space
- expanded thrift store
- expanded waiting area
- expanded meeting space for off times to enable intaking new families, tax preparation, etc.
- warehouse style delivery space
- expanded parking
- community garden
