MY STORY

I did this ride solo in 2014 & 2016.

It wasn’t my intention to repeat this event this year, but the sad and disturbing statistics showing that more men are now dying of Prostate Cancer than women of Breast Cancer has spurred me on to embark on another ride this July.

Many will have done this journey over a shorter period, but this is not a race and I’m not in search of the best hardened rider! It’s about the enjoyment of the journey too, instead of turning it into an endurance test.

My previous rides were mildly successful, but overall, I was disappointed that my set targets were not reached.
I am absolutely convinced that this was due a lack of credible publicity and sponsors and trying to do it solo with limited resources.

I’ve therefore widened the geographical net to incorporate bikers from other counties, and hope that some might join me as I ride through their territory.

It’s a big ask to anticipate anyone to accompany me on the whole trip, some have offered, but it would be more realistic to expect that a few might wish to join me on a leg or two.

It would nicely break up the solitary and monotonous aspects of this journey and we’ll be able to make the loudest roar to attract the most attention along the way.

I’ve allowed 10 days to complete the trip, which gives me time to meet up with other cancer charity groups and bikers en route.

To keep the costs down, this is after all a charity ride, it is my intention to utilise the more modest facilities of camping sites and accommodations from Airbnb hosts.

09.00 Hrs for coffee and a photo-shoot.

then moving on to Squires Cafe, Sherburn-in-Elmet, LS25 5LX.
Meet at Squires at 10.00 Hrs for breakfast before leaving for Dunfermline.

SUMMARY

The care, administration, maintenance, servicing, marketing, product placements and fuel costs of the trip are now fully covered by Castle Motorcycles and BSB Motors.

I thank and am grateful to both of those sponsors for their invaluable participation in this event and the trust and faith they have invested in me as an individual.

There remains the question of my accommodation and sustenance expenses. After a long days ride, I will need to rest and eat.

I have calculated that this would amount to £400 ( £300 for accommodation and £100 for daily sustenance).

I pray therefore that some benevolent philanthropist or other individual will come forward and invest in this commendable and charitable cause.
