Brooklyn's HOPE Fund

Hello my name is Sheila Morris, and I am the assistant principal, and Dr. Stanley Griggs is the Principal at Owen Scholastic Academy, and I would like to share a short story with you about one of our students. I will never forget the look in the eyes of my sweet little Brooklyn Cooper, one of my kindergarten students at OSA, on October 30, 2014. It was at the end of the school day and as usual all the students were being led to their designated buses. As I oversee and make sure all students are on their buses safely, I noticed a problem. It was a windy and cold day where trees were blown down, sticks were flying through the air, and our sweet little Brooklyn had fallen to the ground. While one of our other students, Lawrence, went to her aide, I looked back and saw them both on the ground. I went to both of them and Lawrence informed me that he was trying to help Brooklyn because she fell. I told Lawrence to go to the bus, and as I tried to stand Brooklyn up, she kept wobbling from side to side. I finally was able to get her on the bus, and I sat her close to the driver. About five days later, we were notified by Brooklyn's faithful and loving mother that she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The OSA family was devastated.
Brooklyn has recently been released from The University of Chicago Hospital to hospice. Brooklyn's God-fearing mom expressed to all that she prefers to take out the s, i, & c from hospice and call it HOsPicE. I am asking everyone to please support and offer HOPE to Ms. Nightingale with ANY financial contribution. Ms. Nightingale is a single parent with two children who needs each of us. She has one son Jakhari who is graduating from 8th grade at CICS-Wrightwood  School, as well as Brooklyn who is an intelligent kindergartner at OSA. Please let us spread love and hope to this family. Let us be a blessing, for we are all blessed.
