Help Fund Parker & His New Knee

Donation protected
To begin, my name is Craig.  My wife's name is Selin.  An exotic name for a beautiful woman, to be sure.  My life completely changed for the better after meeting her.  Life, has never been the same, nor would I want it to be.  Ours is an amazing relationship.  I constantly learn something from this woman, plus, I hope she may (every once-in-a-while) learn something from me.  We enjoy each other so much, and have so much love to give, that we felt it only appropriate to add a couple of puppies who had never known love into our family.

Wanting to adopt some furry members for our family, our research led us to a place called Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which happened to be, at the time, in the very near vicinity.  The sanctuary is a place for animals of almost any species, both newborn and older alike.

Enter the comical team of Parker & Miguel.  Parker is a Saint Bernard / Swiss Hound mix, while, and stay with me now, his much smaller, big brother (Miguel is the older of the two) is a teacup chihuahua.  Parker was born in the sanctuary while Miguel had been saved from what is likened to certain death.  After seeing the eyes and the temperaments of the boys, we knew they would be the right choice for our family, and hopefully we could, can, and are the parents they desire.  To say we love both of them would be an understatement.  They are truly, "our children".  The boys help to remind us that life is to be used for play, and are also there to lay their heads on us when we are down, almost as if to say "I'm sorry".  Plus who can resist those pairs of big brown eyes?

Moving from coast to coast, more precisely, opportunity to opportunity, has kept the boys on their toes.

Fast forward to October 2014.  My wife and myself move to Portland, Oregon, where we have always dreamed of living.  All of our hard-earned savings go into the relocation of our family which, once again, has to cross the country so that we may come to Oregon, simply to search for the opportunities we believe we deserve; the opportunities and hope only a place like Portlandia can provide.

Every instance is planned for.  All angles tried to be taken care of.  Except what now lies in front of us.

Upon our arrival, and wanting to see our beautiful new city, our new home, with Parker & Miguel, we take them on a walk to a park called Laurelhurst.  The sun is out, all the puppies are playing in the off-leash area, including Parker (Miguel is still a little shy around the big dogs).  Then, in an instant, Parker tries to dart off too fast, and we hear a yelp harangue across the park.  Startled, as we had never heard such a thing come from Parker's mouth, we ran to see if he was okay.  To our horror, he was limping, holding his left hind leg gingerly above the ground, extremely straight.  After a day of monitoring his situation, we felt it only right to take our boy to the vet, which, is how we arrive at GoFundMe.

Our vet has informed us that, due to his size and breed, Parker has effectively torn his Cruciate Ligament and will require surgery.  Well, our concern is for Parker's pain and welfare and we want to give him the best care possible.  So, we are hoping to raise $5000 for a surgery to repair Parker's knee.  $5000 is the exact cost of the surgery and X-Rays.

Having spent all of our earnings on simply getting to Portland, we find ourselves without the means to take care of Parker's pain, much less his knee.  This is why I am writing to you.  We are asking for donations amounting to $5000.  I understand times are tight.  Trust me, I completely understand.  But right now, my family needs me.  Parker needs to not be in pain and Miguel needs his brother to be able to play with him again (Parker is the only dog Miguel will play with).  We need Parker to smile again, for himself, as well as our home.  We need our little big light back.

Thank you for your time, your kind assistance, and I truly hope that we will be able to repay your kindness very soon.  Selin, myself, Miguel, and most especially Parker wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

The Ogg family
