Solar Power For Panthera Sanctuary

Panthera is a sanctuary preserve in the Amazon Rainforest on the banks of the Rio Madre de Dios near Puerto Maldonado, Peru.
Panthera's primary mission is to nourish, maintain, and protect this piece of rainforest in order to allow all local species of the Amazon to thrive. There is a lot of work that goes into preserving this rich biodiverse environment. Panthera also hosts volunteers like myself year round, teaching them about jungle conservation and getting them involved in the local community. Panthera is run by Pierre Berthon, his wife Milena, and his father-in-law. The three of them work tirelessly for their passion of conservation and ecological welfare.
To run the camp, a generator is utilized for 3-4hrs/day to provide power in the evening and partially maintain a small fridge to keep some food as fresh as possible in the remote location. The generator cannot be used all the time due to the cost of fuel. I am raising funds to provide a solar power system for the camp in order to support the ongoing conservation efforts of Panthera and its volunteers.
The solar power system will provide more than enough power. This will allow a fridge to run full time, keeping food fresh for the staff and volunteers as well as maintain medications for animals. The power could also be used for charging computers at any time during the day.
All in all, solar power will allow Panthera to have a better facility to support more volunteers, better animal care, and more advanced research. Furthermore, the system will save money in generator fuel for years to come. Any funds raised above those required for the solar power system will be used by Panthera to further its conservation mission.
