Pace BA 2020 International Trip

To our communities:
We as the B.A. International Performance Ensemble class of 2020 have been provided with the exceptional opportunity to perform Off-Broadway and to tour internationally in the spring of 2018 with the shows we have created over the last year.

We need your help to subsidize the costs of transporting 34 students to two different countries. Your donations will help cover the costs of airfare. Many of our students attend Pace on scholarships and have received additional financial support specifically for this travel abroad experience. We are looking to cover the gap between university funding and scholarship coverage to ensure a successful theatrical, personal, and educational endeavor.

In May of 2018, we will perform Off-Broadway at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row on 42nd street. Afterwards, our ensembles will be traveling to Bulgaria and Croatia to showcase our work on How's the Water? (directed by Mike Mikos) and Safer Than Home (directed by Ianthe Demos).

While in Bale, Croatia, Mike's ensemble will be working alongside students from  Germany and England to create a new piece of theatre for a local youth theatre festival, utilizing the theme of "renaissance." They will have the unique experience of preparing their own food throughout the trip with ingredients provided by local farmers each morning.

In Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, Ianthe's ensemble will present their work on Safer Than Home at the State Puppet Theatre, before working with Bulgarian artists Vesselka Kuncheva, Marieta Golomehova, and Christo Namliev, to create a new, musical version of George Orwell's Animal Farm. This new piece will tour to New York City in the fall of 2018.

The BA in Acting & Directing — International Performance Ensemble (IPE) major in the Pace School of Performing Arts is based on creative strategies for students to grow artistically and become first-rate artists. This is a one-of-a-kind BA theater program in the U.S. that trains the student in the development of an ensemble theater company.

Previous classes have traveled to London, Thailand, Romania, Bulgaria, and Barcelona. Through these excursions, students develop a distinctive voice and perspective through hands-on experience for work in both commercial and not-for-profit theatre as well as creating and touring with projects around the world.

We thank you very much for your contribution towards an exciting and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

With love,

The B.A. International Performance Ensemble class of 2020
