Disabled Couple Trying to Get By

I'm not sure how well this will be received considering all the people in need today. Our situation is kinda typical in these times but I'm gonna appeal to you today and ask for help.

You all know Irish Joe is permanently disabled from being rear-ended by a hit and run driver on his motorcycle 3 years ago. He has to deal with stuff like having to use a cane everywhere he goes for balance because he has vertigo 24/7 (and if you’ve EVER had vertigo you know that’s bad). He has epilepsy now and has to take medication for that so as not to go into seizures (even with the meds flashing lights will still cause a brain seizure). Who knew you could have epilepsy from a blow to the head??? We sure didn’t until that happened. He is beseiged with daily spasms in his limbs and torso. Because of the vertigo and seizures he can no longer drive. He can’t do math anymore or even count out money; if I’m helping him with research and throw too many numbers or statistics at him he’s lost and has to stop me. When he DOES write he just sits down with an idea of what subject he wants to write about and starts typing…he doesn’t know what he’s typed until I edit it and read it back to him. And when he finishes the story and shares it with y’all he’s pretty much done for the day. He goes to his favorite spot on the recliner and just kinda passes out for an hour or so.

Before that though I lost MY job at an investment company from disabilities that I battle every day. Because of Joe's injuries his disability claim was immediately approved and he DOES receive a check every month from Social Security. I however continue to fight for my approval. This puts us living on a very limited income during which we struggle every month to pay the bills, get the meds we both have to take and buy the food we need. For the last year we've depended on food banks in the area to make it through the month. Thank God for those. A dear couple we met online help us out every month with what they can and Thank God for them as well.

In the last year we've had yard sales and online sales to pretty much get rid of anything we have that can help us through and we've about exhausted all of our disposable STUFF. Each time we've had a yard sale we've put our trust in God and each time we've made just what we needed to pay what we had to pay. Over and over we've put it in God's hands this past year & over and over He's showed us the way. We haven't expected anything to be given to us that we haven't worked for. We've had help from family and friends intermittently as they can and we are more grateful than I can say for what they have done. Our hearts are full with gratitude for what we have been blessed with.

Yesterday I once again put my trust in God and did something Joe is fighting against. I made an appointment with his Neurologist for next Thursday so he can continue to receive the meds he needs for his vertigo and seizures. The last time we called for a refill we were told that since he hasn't seen him in two years they can no longer refill until he examines Joe again. He hasn't seen him because we don't have the insurance to cover the appointment and all the tests that we KNOW the doctor is gonna want to run. It's just that plain and simple. In the last year Joe's headaches have become so severe that he can barely function. I've worried and worried over this but could not convince Joe to go to the neurologist because we honestly don't have the money for it. Now they won't give him the meds he needs and I'm out of time to get something done. Y'all know Joe......his answer is "Ah, I don't need those....I can learn to walk again without 'em" and he's been stressing over the appointment I made since the moment I made it saying "Angie, you gotta call 'em back and cancel because we can't afford it".

I'm asking for help from any one of you who can. God has put it on my heart to send this out into the stratosphere and trust in Him.

If you can help in any way no matter how small. Five dollars adds up if any of you can afford it.
