Hygiene Products for Homeless Women

Donation protected
I'd really appreciate your help in raising money to purchase feminine hygiene products for homeless women in local shelters.

Here is a brief background as to where I got my idea for this fund-raiser:
My name is Lucia Rojas. I am currently a student of pre-medicine and most importantly a humanitarian. For the past year, I've been incredibly excited for a music festival that takes place in South Florida, Tortuga Music Festival. Being a student and having so many expenses makes it very difficult to attend such expensive venues, therefore any kind of money spent needs to be saved in advance.
A few months back I stumbled upon a Huffington Post article titled "For Homeless Women, Getting Their Period Is One Of The Most Difficult Challenges" and I pondered on it for a few weeks, coming to the realization of just how fortunate I am to not have to struggle with this issue. That woman could or may have been any of us. Suddenly, the thought of spending $200 on a music festival just felt wrong.
I want to become a doctor for this very reason: to help people. We tend to convince ourselves that we don't have the means to help others at the moment, but that one day we will; and that becomes comforting. However, we don't realize that what we have is more than what other people in our communities have. We don't realize that a lot of the things we have are not just needs, but things that we want. As quoted from Malcom Bane, "If you wait until you can do everything for everybody, instead of something for somebody, you'll end up doing nothing for nobody", I decided that if I had the means to attend a music festival, I have the means to help homeless women with feminine hygiene products. I decided to use my $200 towards buying feminine hygiene products for homeless women and dropping them off at local shelters.
By no means am I discrediting Tortuga Music Festival or people who will attend (as I am sure that is the equivalent of 98% of my friends). The festival actually raises money to conserve the sea turtles on the coast of Florida; that is amazing! However, I do encourage, actually, I challenge all of you to give up just one weekend out, one dinner out, one movie night, one concert, one shopping spree, one bar tab, one anything, and just make a donation to this or any other cause that your heart feels the need to support.

Thank you for reading so far and thank you for your support in advance!
