TBYC Youth Poets Trip to BNV 2015

The Bridge Youth Center has created the first faith-based urban teen performing arts program in Southwest Florida, "The 5ive Talents Program" (see Matthew 25:14-30 ) and part of the program is to create and develop a positive youth poetry performance team.
To further the development of this team, we are planning a chaperoned trip to the epic Brave New Voices 2015 Festival in Atlanta this July. This is a full weekend event but we are only aiming to attend the Saturday festivities in order to cut costs. This exhilarating festival can open these kids up to the world of positive poetry and spreading the message of the love of Christ by seeing their peers from all over the world express themselves through the freedom that is spoken word.
Opportunities like these promote literacy and help our youth develop a skill & form of self expression, shifting their focus away from the streets, drugs and other negative influences that are killing them physically and mentally. Youth experience the interpersonal work of collaborating with peers & adult mentors, receive positive reinforcement that is vital in confidence building and the development of communities and also by being exposed to the diversity present in poetry, they gain a respect for other cultures, thus, reducing feelings of hate, stereotypes and racism.
The $1,000 will cover:
· $200 Gas for the trip there and back
· $400 Meals for 2 days for kids*
· $300 1-night hotel stay*
· $100 Youth t-shirts in same color
Luke 6:45 says "...for the mouth speaks what the heart is full of" so would you help us fill their hearts with God, support, love, encouragement and opportunity so that their mouths speak victory!

*Campaign was recently edited due to distance traveling will be extensive and an overnight stay will be required.
If the full amount is not raised to cover, donors will be contacted immediately with info on redistributing funds within the 5ive Talents slam poetry team development including trips to youth slams and workshops in Florida or other options to ensure donor satisfaction.
