After auditioning for a spot, a goal of mine is coming true summer 2015! I have landed a spot in the trumpet section of Cadets2, a regional drum corps based out of Allentown, PA. Every weekend I will be performing at shows against 21 other corps culminating in a championship show on September 6th in Rochester, NY.
"Cadets2 is a weekend-only, regionally performing drum and bugle corps presented by Youth Education in the Arts. This organization consists of approximately 128 young men and women ages 16 to 25 located in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania and surrounding area. Cadets2 takes a different approach to drum corps than The Cadets due to the level of time commitment, but the corps is managed very much the same. There is an expectation of excellence, a clear intention that the image of The Cadets is maintained, and a promise from the organization that Cadets2 will operate with the same degree of quality as all of YEA!'s programs."
I am looking forward to this whole experience. I anticipate making new friends, improving my musicianship, getting weird tan lines from practicing in the sun all day and sleeping on air mattresses in high school gyms. Doesn't that sound like fun? But I seek your help! Participant fees as well as gas and weekly travel fees across the Tappan Zee bridge add up and can be cumbersome on a college student budget.
