Fort Myers Art Walk Trolley

For more than six years, the First Friday Art Walk in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District has been a key component in the social scene and redevelopment of historic downtown. Once a small social gathering, Art Walk now draws thousands of fans each month to participate in the excitement. As the revitalization of the River District has continued to expand, so has the energy of Art Walk!
To better accommodate the growing demand for this event, Art Walk began a complimentary trolley service in the fall of 2014 to link the full expanse of the more than 500 acre River District. With this, thousands of residents living in the District, as well as countless dynamic venues now all have a direct link to this event without worry of driving and parking.
Art Walk, produced by the River District Alliance (RDA) is one of many programs designed by the RDA to further enhance the social, cultural, and economic enhancement of the River District. The trolley not only benefits the success of Art Walk, but has proven to be a great tool in the continued economic growth of the River District.
As a 501 (c)3, the focus of the RDA has remained constant, return dollars to benefit the River District. Art Walk has made great effort and achieved success in being a key element of the River District, while continuing to be an entirely free event for the attendees.
To date, the trolley service has been funded through a combination of private contributions and fund generated. We consider this a great success to the testament of the contribution Art Walk gives to our community; however we recognize that those funding sources are highly variable and limited in our year round funding of the trolley.
Estimated annual costs to fully fund the Art Walk trolley for two years are approximately $19,500.
We kindly request Art Walk and trolley service fans to consider making a tax deductible contributing to this fund to allow us to continue offering this free service on a year-round basis.
