Little Lois sits freezing in a beautiful yet chilly winter wonderland in Warwick, Rhode Islander.
Her eldest daughter Arielle is social working her heart away in Lusaka, Zambia in sub-Saharan Africa. Kara, the once baby of the family who is becoming wiser by the minute as she nears her final year of college, is right on Arielle's heels and hopes to visit Zambia this summer to explore her own social work path. Kara and Arielle dream of being able to spend time in Zambia with Little Lois- to show her the beautiful rolling hills of the countryside, to hang out with a zebra or two, and to meet the wonderful people who have taken Arielle under their wing over the past months.
But there is one problem.
Between Arielle's social work salary and back to back fellowships and Kara's college loans, they just can't scrape together the money to fly Little Lois all the way to Africa. And the flights are over $1,500! Click here to see how crazy these flight prices are...
So we're reaching out to you- the people who mean the most to Lois and our family as a whole- to ask for any help- big or small.
As you know, despite her size, Little Lois has the biggest heart and she works tirelessly to support her family and friends. But with 7+ feet of snow on the ground in Rhode Island, business has been a bit tough and our bright dream of reuniting as a family in Zambia has grown a bit dim.
Little Lois would be quite embarrassed if she knew that Kara and Arielle had created this site to fundraise for a trip. But in honor of her birthday on March 30th and our incredible love for our mom, we just couldn't resist.
Thank you in advance for any contribution, even if it's a few dollars. If traveling and working in developing countries has taught us anything, it's that every bit counts and that sometimes it takes a village to help lift someone up.
