Haughton HS D.I. Global Finals Trip

Hello Everyone! My name is Jessica Raley and I am a teacher at Haughton High School. I am also the Team Manager of a really awesome program called Destination Imagination(DI for short). The DI program encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus, and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering,
and mathematics), the arts, and service learning. Our participants learn patience, flexibility,
persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving
process. Currently, DI offers seven different categories that students around the world participate in. They are technical, scientific, structural, fine arts, improvisational, service learning, and early learners. This year, I had the privilege of managing 5 young men and women in the improvisational challenge. This is my third year doing this particular challenge, but it is our first year to qualify for Global Finals. Our Structure Team also qualified to go to Global Finals. This means that we will be able to go to Globals in Knoxville, Tennessee at the end of May! This is an amazing opportunity that not many students get. The only problem is that it’s going to cost almost $12,000 to get the 2 teams there. Good news is that we have been fundraising all year and are on our way to reaching this amount. With your help we will be able to participate in this wonderful opportunity that involves students from almost every state and fifteen different countries! We cannot wait to go on this awesome journey and we hope you can help us make it happen! No donation is too small and all are greatly appreciated. It can be anywhere from $5 to $500!
