Imagine seeing everything you own, your whole body, your family, your well-being be torn down into shambles right before your very eyes. Imagine being beaten down and not being able to stand back up again. Imagine losing your child because they witnessed a monster beating you verbally, mentally, and physically. Domestic violence victims have experienced these exact scenarios and some of the victims cannot escape these nightmares.
My name is Ally Luckenbach and I am writing on behalf of Willette Taylor. Ms. Taylor is a domestic violence survivor. Coming to Buffalo with 2 bags of clothes, $60, and a dream, Ms. Taylor became the President and Founder of her own not for profit agency. This agency is the Women of the World Transition Center of WNY, Inc.
We are raising money to support domestic violence victims. Many of the people we serve are women and children. Some of these women are homeless, have no job, lack of belongings, lack of food and clothing, and lack of toiletries. The women with children are often found in need of diapers, bottles, formula, and clothing for their child.
The money from this campaign will be used for supplies for the victims and their children. Some of these supplies include: house hold items (furniture, bedding, kitchen items), toiletries, transportation costs, our future residential facility, educational development center, electronic devices for educational purposes, security deposits for immediate housing funds, baby needs (formula, diapers), food, and clothing. The list goes on...
The funding would be needed ASAP. We have many victims walking through our doors already. We are desparately trying to help each and every victim that comes to us.
This campaign means so much to Ms. Taylor and myself because we would be able to continue helping others that are powerless and less fortunate. It is a small price to pay to support those vulnerable people. We give the victims hope that the future is there. We give back love to those who never had it. We are taking people from out of crisis and giving them love and support. Just knowing that we helped them survive and start a new life is an enough reward for us.
We would be so thankful to receive these funds. It would be like we walked into heaven. It would be our last sole purpose on this earth. Receiving this money will make us realize we have made a difference in the lives of domestic violence victims. We changed and we saved peoples' lives.
