Healthy Ageing Research in Uganda
Issues faced by older persons in developing countries are largely invisible. This project, called m-Healthy Ageing (or Aging for those in the US), aims to make the issues of older persons more visible as part of a global movement to address the health, well-being, and social protection of older persons in ways that engage the strengths of older persons, intergenerational cooperation, and community action. m-Healthy Ageing will focus on the implementation of the Health Outcomes Tool developed by Help Age International along with community-based intergenerational interventions to address the health issues that older persons face in Uganda.
The goals of the research project include: 1) develop a baseline of the status of older persons health and well-being, 2) develop community-based intergenerational responses, and 3) measure the impact of the project on the health and well-being of older persons.
This funding will be used only for Uganda field research expenses including stipends for field researchers and coordinators, research training expenses, food and basic supplies for meetings with older persons groups.
Collaboration with university and iNGO partners are providing in-kind support for computers, research tools, and advising.
We hope you will join us by supporting this research, and helping to address health issues that older persons face in Uganda!
