New School Bus for The Oaks

School Bus fundraising project!
The Oaks Adventist Christian School
One of the greatest challenges facing parents in this city is commuting from place to place. It is a massive endeavor to put yourself into Houston traffic twice each day, every day. Distances that should only take 20 minutes can take more than an hour of driving (actually sitting) time. Getting your children to school on time in this traffic is a real challenge. Since The Oaks serves a large part of the Houston area, we offer bus service to our parents. We pick up from 3-4 churches to help get students to school and allow parents to get to work on time.
At this time, our school bus is reaching it's 20 year milestone of service. It lacks some basic creature comforts, such as air conditioning. It has also started to break down more often and has become unreliable for getting our students to and from school each day. Additionally, we use our bus for other transportation such as field trips.
This month, we are beginning a fundraiser intended to purchase at least one new bus for the school. This will allow us to provide safe and reliable transportation to our students that live more than 10 miles from the school.
