Hi!
My name is Steven and I'm a 26 year old Entrepreneur from New York. 6 months ago, I quit my job and used my savings to run an IT services company (Pegasus Professional Consulting Solutions, or PPCS) I'm here today asking for some help.
I started this company for a multitude of reasons, the main one being integrity. I've worked in many different organizations and have noticed one similar theme: corporate greed. It disables companies to do business honestly because their motivation is increased sales and profits. They pressure people to work harder and achieve better results without any type of positive engagement, feedback, support or incentive. At my last job (working for IT consultants), the owner and her partner wasted a large non-profit's precious time and money on projects that were executed badly because they were only concerned with making more money and pushing back deadlines to keep money coming in.
I have had a lot of issues with anxiety and depression, and what has made it worse is this world being so full of greed and corruption. I have never been able to look the other way and pretend like it's not happening. I've spent so many years dreading most jobs I've been at because once I notice greedy intentions, I can't stop thinking about it and it makes me not want to perform at my best. My goal with this business is to help other businesses leverage technology to make them more effective, to expand and be able to provide jobs to the youth, and give back to the community by mentoring young techs and assisting in any way I can. I recently registered for volunteer work with NPower's volunteer program, the Community Corps. I am so excited to be able to use my experiences and skills to help guide the next generation of techs and engineers!
Pegasus has fallen on hard times, coming across clients not paying and other financial setbacks. In a few weeks, I'll have to start seeking employment and give up on my dream. It's not the worst thing in the world, but I am so passionate about this that just the thought breaks me.
