NYU Big Man On Campus

The sisters from NYU Zeta Tau Alpha would like to present to you this years annual Big Man on Campus!

The mission of Zeta Tau Alpha's philanthropy, Big Man on Campus (BMOC), is to be a source of information regarding all aspects of breast cancer, from prevention to survivor wellness, as well as providing prospective donors with the information they need to realize the importance of their contributions. Last year our chapter raised $2,500, but this year we are hoping to reach our goal of $10,000!

In addition, as a non profit charity event, BMOC serves as a source of contribution itself, as the women of Zeta Tau Alpha collect contributions from family, friends, strangers, and peers, which are donated to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation which is a charitable organization for breast cancer education and awareness. Through all of ZTA's efforts, we hope BMOC will help us accomplish many goals. Besides spreading awareness, other goals include providing funds to facilitate research and evaluate the efficiency, looking at accountability and governance of nonprofit organizations, and constantly redefining our programs to meet the continuing challenge of educating the public. The funds collected in the name of BMOC allow us to do a number of these things, including to provide mammograms for women who otherwise could not afford them, allowing us to save lives through early detection. Past the point of diagnosis, our mission includes increasing awareness through education, working towards providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services. BMOC strives to bring together organizations and businesses who have products and services that support all aspects of the breast cancer cycle.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 15,230 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among women in New York and 2,390 of those will die of Breast Cancer. Some women, and their families, are just starting their journey. However, there are over two million women living in the U.S. who have been treated for breast cancer, and their journey still is not over. We're getting somewhere, but we still have a long way to go, and you can help. Please donate, please spread awareness, please Think Pink.
