OUR STORY
Dane Johnson was 23 when he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2009. After months of treatment with western medicine, he was on the verge of liver failure and his weight was below 140 pounds. He had contracted months-long feverish drug-induced hepatitis and two different dangerous blood viruses, uncontrollable stomach pain, blood in the intestinal tract, muscle erosion, fatigue and many more severe crohns symptoms. Faced with surgery, he decided to use nutrition and lifestyle management to change his life, but it wasn’t easy.
During the hardest part of Dane’s transition, Phyllis Johnson remembers her son saying:
“Mom, is there a place I can go where someone can help me get well? I can’t do this myself!”
Dane’s new regimen helped him gain 35 pounds in 60 days – and set him on a course to health. Today he is living a successful, healthy life; symptom and drug-free!
It also created a clear vision for our founder to create a non-profit, Crohns & Colitis Nutrition Foundation, and the first NutritionHeals Retreat and the NutritionHeals Funding Network to help others like Dane.

Crohns & Colitis Nutrition Foundation connects clients to local and national experts through a database of certified Practitioners and support personnel called Client Advocates.
ACCESS TO FUNDING: NutritionHeals Funding Network
Often, the only thing standing in the way of a successful recovery and restoration of quality of life is the lack of funds to access the expert advice and path to health not covered by insurance. For those not able to afford their treatment, Crohns & Colitis Nutrition Foundation provides access to a crowd-funding site used to assist clients in raising funds through donations. The funds will pay for the nutrition experts, tests, supplements, medical bills and other associated costs to regain health and quality of life. On average, it takes $2,000-3,000 to start someone on the path to disease reversal - a fraction of the costs of pharmaceuticals that just mask the real problems.

The NutritionHeals Retreat of Charleston, SC, when finished, will have 6 Suites, a Community Room, an Open Kitchen, a Yoga Room, a Salt Water Pool, a Waterfall, an Organic Garden, and serene Walking Paths. It includes everything you'll need to heal and recover: stress relief, strength renewal, customized nutrition plans, and nutrition education. The first Retreat in Charleston, SC is designed as a wellness center prototype for the purpose of duplicating it in other parts of the country to expand access to physical lodging for those in need nationwide.
