The North Richmond Community Empowerment Center is building a new home in the heart of the community. Our mission, Educating the Community for Greater Growth, propels us to offer classes, seminars, and programs for people of all ages. Our Digital Learning Center features programming for individuals from the ages of 2 1/2. Help us grow! This renovation project has a $50,000 price tag. Our volunteers have sown the first seeds. We need materials, professional expertise from architects, electricians, plumbers, excavators, and general contractors. This is a labor of love and hope that you would help us to build something beautiful in the neighborhood.
NRCEC, formerly known as the First African Educational Center, Inc, was formed in 2005 as a 501(c)3 public charity. It was born out of a need to support the First African Baptist Church Nursery School, which may have been the first of its kind in Richmond, VA (founded in 1956). The non-profit was to provide afterschool care and supplemental education for the young people in the community. In 2013, its board voted on a name change to more appropriately support its mission of provided various forms of education to serve all in the community; not only youth.
In addition to our computer classes for young people, we host classes for seniors in the community who want to stay up with technology to include social media and general office applications. This fall, we will start our SAT Bootcamp for those ready to apply to colleges as well as a Robotics Team for students between the ages of 9-14.
Help us to serve others. No donation is too small.
