Northlake Patriots Pop Warner (www.northlakepopwarner.com) is a not for profit football and cheer program that serves area youth including residents of Hammond, Whiting and East Chicago in Indiana and neighboring communities in Illinois.
Pop Warner places a strong emphasis on academics. Each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner participants compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and continues through each of the eight Pop Warner regions, then to the national level. The criteria to apply for this honor is a GPA of 96% or higher and active involvement in non-sports related community activities.
Seven Northlake Pop Warner participants met the criteria to apply and are being recognized as 2015 Pop Warner Regional AND National All-American Scholars. Of the seven All-American Scholars, one individual was named a Regional and National First Team All-American Scholar. Six individuals were named Regional and National Second Team All-American Scholars. Being recognized as a Pop Warner All-American Scholar means that academically, these individuals are amongst the top 2% of all Pop Warner participants (approximately 350, 000 kids) nationally.
These individuals will be honored at the National Pop Warner Scholastics Banquet which will be held in San Diego, California on May 22nd and 23rd.
Unfortunately, Northlake Pop Warner's budget is not sufficient to cover the expense of our scholars to attend the National Scholar Banquet in San Diego. If you are able to contribute a donation in any amount, it will be greatly appreciated. All money raised will help pay for travel, accommodations, meals and banquet fees.
