Help support Mara
Donation protected
At 5 years old, Mara, was diagnosed with a genetic disease called “Von Hippel-Lindau” or VHL. VHL is a genetic disease that inhibits a person from being able to suppress tumors or lesions. When Mara was 9 years old her father died and left her mother and 4 year old sister after a 4 year battle with VHL. Since the age of 5 Mara has had to undergo test every six months to monitor her disease which has not been active. This last January while undergoing her regular 6 month testing, it was discovered that she has lesions/tumors on her spinal cord and that parts of these tumors lit up with contrast. She has been active in sports with the Lubbock Home School Titans till a knee injury sidelined her this winter, which was a blessing from God, because after discovering the tumors on her spine the doctors said she couldd have very easily have been paralyzed by a minor blow to her back while playing basketball. Her Mother, sister and she are leaving for Houston to see a Neuro-Oncologist for treatment in March. Mara’s mom, Michelle, has been supporting her and her little sister, Cami, since her father’s death, with tutoring in mornings, and working as secretary at a local hospital 3 evenings a week, also catering in evenings and weekends as time allows. Please help support this family with donations, and more so with prayers to our heavenly father for this sweet faithful family. Michelle and Mara's little sister Cami, are by Mara's side cheering her on! These donations are so important to support Michelle so she can be there every moment for Mara.Michelle has watched her husband be taken by this awful disease and I am amazed at her faithfullness and hope and trust she has in our Lord. Keep Mara and her sweet family in your prayers. God Bless.
