One Man And His Guitar

Donation protected
Meet Sean McFarlin. A giant of sorts and an intimidating foe. Except he’s not.
Sean is a man of honor and integrity who’s talent and love for music goes beyond what most people can imagine. The only thing that comes close to Seans love of music is his love for people. Being around them, making them smile or laugh with his quick wit and not always politically correct sense of humor. He even does improv a few times a year when it’s available in our community.
His style of songwriting and singing is a wide range of love songs and tributes often mixed with his unique blend of humor. Sean is a giver. And so much so that he often performs for tips and many times for free. One time that remains dear to my heart is a few years ago when my eighteen year old niece lost her battle to cancer. Sean came to her grave site and sang Go Rest High On That Mountain and Melissa by Alan Jackson. But as often is the way with givers they sometimes find themselves largely surrounded by takers.
So there are times when after performing and receiving compliment after compliment he still leaves with empty pockets. Like most of us Sean has had dreams come and go but the one dream he just cannot let go of is that hope that one day he’ll be discovered and be able to sing to the world.
But now along with all of the other challenges one man and his guitar could face a new one has presented itself.
Last night Sean was attacked and brutally beaten by someone with a tire iron. He was transported to our closest University Of Hospitals In Iowa City Iowa for the care he would need.
With two front teeth knocked clear out and three more bent backward so badly they are not expected to survive the trauma. And over twenty stitches in the right upper side of his lip that was nearly shredded. Not only is his dream on hold but so is his source of income.
The help I’m asking for will not be a drop in the bucket for what he will need before this over. But I wanted him to see I believe in him. And I believe in you and in the basic goodness of mankind everywhere.
Seans attacker has been identified and is currently fleeing prosecution from the law.
So as much as I am asking for your help. I’m also offering you an opportunity to help someone who’s spent much of his life helping others.
Sincerely Proud to be Sean’s friend Edwin C Hofert
