Charcot-Marie Tooth Syndrome-Nick Bishop

Donativo protegido
Hi, my name is Nick Bishop I am 20 years old, I live in Youngstown Florida, and I suffer from Charcot-Marie Tooth Syndrome

From the time that I was a little child I could always tell that there was something wrong with me and my body. Not being able to do things as easily as other kids could, made me question why? When I was younger I went through a few major surgeries because of my disease and it was very difficult to go out and play when I wanted to. When I was able to go out and play with the other kids, I would have too wear protective gear, like a helmet, so that I would not damage my body, I was fragile. Instead of playing with my freinds, a lot of the time I would have to stay inside and wait for my body to heal. I knew that even when I did heal, I was still not going to be able to do it the same as everyone else could. I had to figure out how to do things differently.  Even though it would take me much longer I knew I would be able to do the things the other kids were doing, just not as good, or the same way. It makes it really difficult when you have to go through life having to change every little thing just to fit in. People would often get frustrated with me because, they would have to wait on me because they did not understand my condition. When I got older I began to notice that my grandfather and my dad, who have the same condition, were getting worse by the day. I know that without any help, eventually, I will end up the same way, either wearing leg braces or confined to wheel chair.

Two years ago I had to go through a right hip replacement surgery, at 18 years old, because of my CMT. After the surgery, things did not heal correctly and I will most likely need another hip surgery in the future. As the days go by, more and more problems are surfacing. My hands and feet are becoming numb, I do not have good stability and the slightest wrong turn can cause me to lose my balance and fall down.  I am beginning to have increasing pains in my shoulders and joints. My doctor has told me that I will eventually need to have my shoulders replaced.

I know that, as I get older more body parts will need to be fixed or replaced because of this disease. I do not heal properly and things just don't come together the way that they should. Over time my body will take longer and longer to heal after each surgery. Healing will likely become more difficult and the pain and damage of not healing correctly will cause many more problems. I know this first hand by watching my father battle this diesease.

I am asking for your help with donations so that I can recieve stem cell treatment specific to my condition, from the World Stem Cell Clinic located in Cancun Mexico, the cost is $25,000. The FDA has not approved this treatment in the United States and it is still considered experimental, therefore, my insurance will not cover the treatment cost. I have spoken with the doctors at the clinic, and they feel this treatment will be very benefical and will change my life for the better.

The World Stem Cell Clinic's, physicians fully board certified, in there field with many years of experience. Their team includes both primary and ancillary care professionals devoted to maximizing your benefits from the procedures.
