About Nick - I have been working at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for the last five years. Around two years ago I accepted a friend's invitation to go out on Halloween, she may have mentioned something about, "My sister's new Au pair will be there! She's German, super cute, and funny! You should come." Seemed like a scam but what else did I have going on?
And there she was:
How could I resist?!?
She, dressed in a Share bear Carebear costume her mother had made her and I, dressed as Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother. I was instantly hooked, her... not so much. I tricked Tizi into giving me her phone number by leading her to believe, "I go to American house parties (like in the movies) all the time! I will bring you along next time." The first one I brought her to was at my house, ONE YEAR later...
About Tizi - I came to America to take care of two little kids. Now I take care of four little kids and one big one (Nick)! This opportunity has been great to strengthen my English skills, expose myself to different cultures, and see the world ;) I would trade it for nothing.
Now I am taking Nick back with me to Köln, Germany so he can experience what I experienced here.
Trust me, he is in good hands!
June 2014 - Nick met two of my best friends, Maren, and Anna from Germany for the first time on vacation in the Florida Keys!
We had such a great time with him as our tour guide and formed lasting bonds. These two fine ladies will be present at our wedding ceremony August 9th in South Carolina but unfortunately not at the Reception August 22nd :(

August 2014 - My mother, Sylvia, came to visit us in Minnesota. It was initially hard to come up with a plan for her time here but then I thought of what I enjoy in Minnesota. The bluffs of SE MN, the Mississippi River, and all of the natural beauty!
Nick first took us to the Mystery Cave :
Then to the Elba Fire Tower:
And finally, we ended up at the Harbor View Cafe in Pepin, WI:
After such a great adventure I was worried she might try to steal him from me! I could tell Nick and my mother got along great. I also couldn't ask for better in-laws!
We both love each other so very much! Niagara 2014:
Sometimes this can lead us to make rash decisions such as, leaving a job at Mayo Clinic, moving to a different country, and marrying (an American) immediately before all of that!!! It is truly amazing how you can fall madly in love with someone halfway around the world. It is with these points in mind that we ask you for a donation to give Nick and I a fighting chance at a new, married life together in Germany. If you wish to give your gift at the party, please do so :), but bear in mind we cannot take large (or small really) items with us on the plane!!!
We hope to see you at the reception on August 22nd but if not, know that you are in our hearts and our thoughts as we get set to wed each other in holy matrimony.
