Activity Fund for Long-Term Care
Donation protected
I heard a story today about a guy in a long-term care facility that just wants to participate in resident facilities. He's not elderly; he's physically disabled. He doesn't have any support. Resident activities are $5-10 each and they do maybe two per month. Right now, he's painting coffee cans and selling them so that he can go do things with his friends (who are in their 90s).
I have a bleeding heart. When I was told about him, I just wanted to give him the biggest hug. I figure if we can raise $250 then he'll be set for one year. He can do things. He's not just stuck in a nursing home with mediocre care and nothing to look forward to.
I'm going to try to do other things as well- donate baked goods, games, books to this facility but my heart really went out for him. He just wants to go bowling, you know? So please help with whatever you can. Seriously, if it's $5, that's an activity for him.
If we exceed our goal, I'm going to talk to the lady in charge of resident activities and see if there are any other people in need. We're making a demonstrable difference, guys!
