Please help me save Moonie

I'm speaking to all of you with y heart in my hands...



I moved to NYC in 2007. I got Moonie about two weeks later and he has been my only family since. 
Today as he did his regular exercising running from roof to roof someone either pushed, kicked or tossed him of the roof. He fell three floors and hit the ice in the back yard.
As I'm writing this he is hospitalized, so far he is too swollen to be able to tell if and how severe his internal damage is. We do know he broke and displaced one of his back legs , his cap is all the way down by his foot. A chunck of his beautiful nose is gone and when I left he was still bleeding from it. I will not know until monday if he is going to make it. So far I'm $1800 in debt . I was able to get $1000 from credit care and has already been left as a deposit. If he makes it, he will need immediate surgery for his leg and that is going to be a few thousand dollars not counting on medication and other after care.
As the hours go by te expenses grow too. It seems to be at $7000 now, hope it stops at that
I implore you, please help him
He has kept me alive when all else failed.
He's my faithful companion and friend.
There's nothing I would not do for him.
I would donate my rib cage for him if someone wanted it.
