Please help us save Truffles!
We rescued Truffles 2ish years ago from a very cold night. We tried looking for his owners, but no one stepped forward, so we decided he should join our madhouse of kids and animals.
Truffles has been aged at approximately 8.5 years old. He's a very good, relatively active cat who likes to sleep in boxes and pick play fights with our other cats. He is funny and expressive, and right now, he's in a ton of pain.
Last night, we noticed that he was using the litter box a lot. I mean, every 5 to 7 minutes. He wasn't doing anything, either. Just standing in there trying and trying and trying to go pee. It just wasn't working out for him. He began to get lethargic and making odd noises that just aren't like him. He's usually a really easy going guy, but last night he just seemed sick and grumpy.
A few hours later, he ended up throwing up bile all over the kitchen floor. By then, we were researching the possibilities on the internet. They all pointed to exactly what it ended up being: Complete blockage of his urethra.
We took him into Shively Animal Clinic this morning and they confirmed the diagnosis. For the next few days in-treatment, plus his surgery, and IV fluids, it is going to come to $588.00. Plus he is definitely going to need special food for his recovery. Relatively expensive food.
To be clear: We have already paid $200 towards his $588 current bill. We need assistance with the rest, plus the cost of his food for two weeks.
Generally, I wouldn't ask people that I don't know for help, but Truffles deserves for me to try. He is a good boy, who has had a pretty rough life. I'm pretty sure he was dumped on the streets because he wasn't a playful kitten anymore, and done so in the middle of the winter. He deserves a family who will stick by him through thick and thin, and that's what we've done. But right now, the money just isn't there.
Anything you could help us out with for his treatment is most, MOST appreciated. Thank you for your time!
