Nervosa

I'm creating a documentary film titled Nervosa. 

I need your help to begin the initial filming.

SUMMARY:

Working as a videographer and film editor for Invisible Children over the past two years has shown me the power that film has - to bring attention to unspoken/unseen subjects and to change people's lives. Traveling, filming, editing, and learning more about good story-telling has encouraged me to create my own film: Nervosa.

There are some existing support systems for people battling Anorexia (doctor visits, hospitalization, psychologists, nutritionists), but many of these supports are not covered by insurance and are very expensive. As many people who struggle with anorexia are young (and do not talk about the challenge they are facing), it can be extremely difficult for them to find a long-term, affordable solution. 

This documentary film will expose the stories of 5 characters who have fought Anorexia Nervosa over the past few years. Walking the line between recovery and addiction to this illness, they strive to discover a solution to the challenges they face daily. It will also explore: the history of Anorexia Nervosa, the way it is perceived by the individual/their family/friends, and the pre-existing support system for Anorexics.

GOAL:

The goal of the film is to find sustainable, long-term, affordable support for people facing Anorexia Nervosa - while providing the viewer an opportunity to step into the shoes of someone who has faced an eating disorder.

FUNDING:

While I have already begun applying for grants for this film, I need initial funding to begin filming interviews. If you believe in what I hope to accomplish through this film, please consider donating to help me bring this to fruition. I'm excited to begin filming!
