Summer Camps for Foster Children
Donation protected
In 2014, the Miami-Dade Child Welfare system received approximately 1,000 more Children into care with no extra financial support. As such, funds that were traditionally earmarked for summer programs for foster children were forced to be spent on other necessities to provide services for these Children and ensure their continued safety.
The Miami-Dade Community Based Care Alliance recognizes the need for foster children to be active in the community during the summer months. At this time, the current rate is approximately $12 per day to fund a Child. The camps include meals and snacks for the Children and offer reading and educational programming.
Summer camps help provide normalcy, education, and social bonding for Children in care. Any amount will make a marked difference in a Child's life.
