Dante's Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Hello All.

This is a very humbling experience from me, and I have never seeked helped like this.

On the morning of 2/26/15, my dog, a Rough Coated Collie named Dante suffered a rare, and severe reaction to something he got into at work.

Background: I have worked with dogs, in many capacities over the course of almost eight years, so the entire time I've owned Dante. He has gone with me to work, on public transit, to pet friendly stores/hotels/everything together practically every day. I have a diagnosed anxiety and panic disorder and Dante has been more effective than any medication or therapy I've had.

Rough Collies have a life expectancy of up to fourteen years. I wasn't ready to let him go.

He was rushed from work, to the closest animal hospital (Highland Animal Clinic) and he received all the treatment they could provide - blood tests and X-Rays. It was deemed that he had to be taken to the ER at Angell Memorial Hospital in Boston to see a Neurologist. This cost $622.00.

All receipts will be posted here to prove validity.

On to Angell Memorial, and just to get him admitted was $145. Then my father and I waited.

The doctor came out and explained that he needed to be taken in to the Critical Care Ward. No Neurological assortment could be done until we (my father and I) paid at least the minimum deposit of $593. I did not qualify for Care Credit, and since he at that time could not be listed as even in "Fair"' condition I could not qualify for financial aid by providing tax information. Putting him down was presented as an option again. My dad intervened and put the minimum deposit down.

The estimated cost of just this day (Thursday, February 26th 2007) was $738.32 - 945.53.

I'm doing this Go Fund Me because after neurological assortment and constant care in the Critical Care Unit, he went from a very poor prognosis when I left the hospital, to receiving a call this morning that he has improved. He is able to stand up. His pupils can follow hand movements. He is trying to walk.

I was also told that a spinal tap was suggested, but the doctor knew of my economic situation and we have put that off, hoping he continues to improve. The thing about the spinal tap is that it would identify the true root of this issue, and he could be placed on a better suited medication.

As of right now, I'm being told Dante will need to be treated in the hospital for at least the next three days, spinal tap or not.

I've exhausted all emergency fund money. I have rent, electricity, and heat bills. I am asking for any help whatsoever. As stated, I will post ALL receipts/bills/etc.

If I go over my goal/Dante's bills, which is very high and I'm not expecting that at all, proceeds will go to New England Collie Rescue and a rescue group I started following called the Arrow Fund. I discovered the Arrow Fund from a post in a Rough Collie Facebook post about a Rough Collie named Lad that was shot, lost his bottom jaw, and was saved by the Arrow Fund. Unfortunately, after doing great, he did pass.

Please, help me bring my dog back home after he gets the treatment he needs.
