My name is Shawn Jones, and Natalie Henshilwood is my best friend, wife & companion for life.
As you may know, Natalie went in for minor surgery for hernia repair and ulcer Sept 29, 2014. When the doctors opened her up they discovered dense scar tissue involving omentum, small and large bowel of the stomach and colon to the abdominal wall and previously large incisional hernia repair with mesh. They started meticulous dissection for greater than 90 minutes. The liver was attempted to be dissected free but she started to hemorrhage and bleeding ensued from the liver bed. Due to the hostility of this area and frozen nature, a decision to abort the operation was made. Natalie’s liver, colon and stomach are scarred into a cemented mass. In 2007 a mesh was placed in her stomach and since her body tried to reject the mesh and built up excessive scar tissue around it. This excessive scar tissue results in her having chronic pain. There is no effective treatment for it and she will live with chronic pain for the rest of her life. The only effective treatment is to go back to surgery and remove the mesh. There are numerous medical procedures and surgeries she must undergo to dissect her organs from each other and it is life threating. Her immune system has become dysfunctional and she has developed Mucha Habermann's disease (PLEVA) which is a disease of the immune system. Everyone has T cells that fight disease; in a person with PLEVA, the T cells get mixed up and decide to form in the skin, causing the lesions. It is not contagious but is very painful and there is no cure. She also has Fibromyalgia, a central nervous system disorder caused by neurobiological abnormalities which act to produce physiological pain and cognitive impairments as well as neuro-psychological symptomatology. Stress is a trigger point for her and opening her medical bills is causing more issues. She could use some financial help in paying for her on going treatments and medical procedures. She was terminated from her job several days before her surgery and has zero income.
If you know my wife I don't have to tell you that she is a giving person with a very big heart, and she has dedicated much of her life to helping others in their need. If you feel like you would like to help Natalie it would be deeply appreciated.
We hope that this site will help us to raise the money needed to pay the bills while she is out of work and to cover her medical expenses. She has given so much too so many - the time has come for her to receive.
