To whom it may concern, our friend Derrick is in need of some much deserved assistance. Derrick Sims was the victim of a horrific motorcycle accident late last year. He crushed all the bones on the right side of his body, punctured both lungs and bled out to the point where it was near fatal. His right arm and leg were nearly amputated at the time and was left paralyzed for over a month following the accident. Derrick has progressed from his injuries in a miraculous way. Within 4 months he was walking with assistance from a cane, disproving his diagnosis of never being able to walk again. Unfortunately he recently learned his leg injury has failed to heal correctly and would require amputation. This has proved a significant setback for him in his determination to overcome the odds and return to the life he knew before the accident. He's received little to no restitution from those at fault. He's been out of work since August due to his injuries and was even denied disability. He doesn't have the resources to obtain a proper prosthetic, which are astronomically expensive along with months of medical bills. Derrick has stayed positive throughout all of this but, the recent setback is leaving him with not much positivity to go on. Let's give him some! Any contribution made will be to support himself and his son as well as getting the medical devices to make life more liveable for him again.
