NoKill dog/cat rescue SW Fla HELP?3

23 years ago a few people established a no kill type animal rescue in Ft. Myers, Fl. We took in dobermans (because of the need to protect them) and expanded to accepting smaller dogs, a few larger ones, and some cats.
We now have a situation trying to care for 70 some dogs and cats- many of whom are unadoptable due to age or past lives (feral cats from a deceased rescuer for instance) and our operation is supported by donations, memberships, adoptions, or a grant here and there.
Our expenses run about $100,000 +/- a year- Most of our labor has been and is provided by volunteers- no salaries are paid to officers. We have a presence on
Petfinder, Rescue me, website www.spay-lee.com, and conduct offsite adoptions at local pet stores.
Sadly many of our major donors have either passed away or moved away and our expenses have almost doubled. Because we are becoming unable to do the physical care for the dogs and cats in our care, we've had to employ some part time people to make certain they are well cared for. At this time, we are running a financial deficit of $8,000 up to the middle of September. Grant applications have gotten no responses. We need the financial support of animal advocates to keep on.
The picture on this site is Rachel- an unclaimed stray in horrible condition at an animal control agency. We took her into our program 5 months ago and other than a old broken back injury that healed without veterinary help and left her with an impaired leg issue, this older girl is doing fine. She's had breast cancers removed, other lumps have shown up benign, needed a dental desperately, and our costs on this girl's care is over $1300.
Any animal we accept is safe here as long as "forever" lasts. Some of the cats are 18 years old. At least one dog is 11 and has been with us for 9 years of her life.
Please help us now and hopefully in the future so that
there IS a "forever" for these guys.
