Bring Gene Thin Elk Jr. home to us

Donation protected
Gene Warren Thin Elk Jr.(Scooter) was so many things to so many people. He was a son, brother, cousin, uncle, father, friend and an overall beautiful soul. Gene was an enrolled member of the Ihanktowan Oyate (Yankton Sioux Tribe) but also a member of the Sicangu Oyate (Rosebud Sioux Tribe) in South Dakota. He was a very spiritual person and practiced the ways of his people. He loved the beauty of life. He was living in Hawaii with his sister but when she moved home he felt like his experience from Hilo wasn’t over so he decided to extend his stay. It was during this time in Hilo, Hawaii on February 22, 2015 that Gene passed away. With this unexpected and heartbreaking loss, we humbly ask for your help so we may bring our loved one home to put him to rest and see him return to the spirit world. We are making arrangements to transfer his body to Lake Andes, SD from Hilo, Hawaii for funeral and traditional Dakota/Lakota services. With our traditional ceremonies we need to prepare for, we are running on precious time. Relatives, friends and associates of Genes who wish to make a donation and help cover these costs can provide support at gofundme campaign. Any funds left will be given to his children.
