Our Spiritual Festival /Event Land

The number of places for our community to enjoy gatherings, festivals and events in Florida is dwindling!

 

Many parks which previously have hosted events, such as the Ocala National Forest and Camp Ocala are now shutting their doors for future events, due to other groups disrespecting the land and misconceptions about our ways.  As an active member in the spiritual community for over a decade, I have seen the joy that these events bring to the participants. I have felt the glow that lasts for weeks after meeting, learning, sharing, dancing, singing, and growing with our great Family, and eagerly anticipated the next time we could come together again.  To know that our ways of worship are threatened by a lack of appropriate space is heartbreaking!

 

Where CAN we go?

 

When an opportunity arose to purchase 10+ acres near Interlachen, a quiet town that is practically a stone's throw away from Orlando, Gainesville, and Jacksonville, it seemed that the need had been answered.  This is a beautiful wooded land, with the capacity to hold events of up to 1000 people!  Already, FIVE festivals have agreed to come to this location to celebrate with us annually as it offers a place for us to make as much noise as we want!  Furthermore, there is the potential to purchase additional acreage in the future, which would allow us more space for extra showers and restrooms!  Not only is this ideal for the large events which we look forward to all year, but we can also find solace at regular drum circles on this land!

 

We understand that the Spiritual community as a whole lacks the cohesive financial infrastructure that other religious communities enjoy, but together we can bring this dream to life.  In addition to what I have personally contributed, another $9,500 is needed by March 20, 2015 to secure the contact for this land.  It will take some work to clear the land and install the necessary structures, but it is a task well worth the effort to have a permanent place to support our ways of worship for many, many years to come.
