Locked Door Dilemma!

If you come to visit Coastal Leadership Academy, the very first thing you will notice is you are locked out! 

Our front doors remained locked at all times for safety reasons, however, this presents a problem throughout the day.   Someone must always stop to go open the door for the person outside.  We have a very inviting cafe entry, but the locked doors make our school feel unwelcoming.  Rainy days are also a bad experience for our visitors.  Many times students passing are polite and have opened the door to a waiting adult, but in reality could be opening the door to someone intending to harm others.   This is a huge safety hazard we would like to eliminate.    

We would like to install an entry system that will allow school personnel to buzz in visitors remotely from the front desk.    Won't you help us eliminate the Locked Door Dilemma!

Coastal Leadership Academy opened in 2013 with 100 students.   This tutition-free charter high school was created to offer students a chance to get a different type of education through project-based learning.   Students tackle real world problems each day as they work through their projects and problem solve. 

Currently, in SC, charter schools do not recieve funding for facilities.   Our school must rely on fundraisers, donations and grants to be able to provide a school building for our students. 

Our current facility was a former warehouse that was upfitted in 2013 to house 6 classrooms, 1 science lab, a cafe, and offices.  The school opened it doors for the first time that fall to 100 students and 10 faculty members.

The 2014-2015 school year saw the enrollment grow to 140 students.  More classroom space and a tech center was added to accomodate growth. 

Our 2015-2016 class will host 185 students and a new collaborative classroom, which we hope to complete debt-free.
