The Green House is Growing!

 

Here is a bit of the back story; just over seven years ago Cheryl Puleo was abruptly informed that the restaurant  at which she was employed, running the kitchen, would be closing. The town of Warren and the surrounding community were going to lose  a favorite food and live music venue. It was at this point that a few members of the community approached Cheryl with the request that she  reopen this venue and fulfill the need of the community for a gathering place for great food and live music. Cheryl took the chance and in that moment in 2007...The Green House Restaurant was born!

 

Ever since that opening in 2007 the Green House Restaurant has continued to provide this rural community with a venue for great food and also a place to here the best of the regions live music. Solo performers and bands alike from all over New England have made the Green House a must play stop. This is surprising as these acts usually make less money than at other venues and also the stage area and dance floor are very confined. But musicians and bands just love the manner in which they are treated by the owners and the patrons and are always hoping for an open date to play again. This is just part of the Green House Magic.

 

The other factor is of course the great food prepared with all home made ingredients and large portions that almost always require a take home box for lunch the next day. A family friendly atmosphere where all ages feel welcome and prices that fit the budget of working families complete this magic spot that we have all come to know and love.....but earlier this year bad news was delivered.

 

The building that was home for the Green House is being sold

 

Relying on faith and the magic that we have felt in the past, a new location and a group of investors suddenly appeared. With a goal to keep the Green House Magic this group has secured the new building just a few miles up the road from the present location. A much bigger building will offer a larger kitchen and seating area, two rest rooms and of course a large roomy stage and dance floor!

 

And here is where you come in!

Although the property has been secured, we need financial help in the purchase of restaurant equipment and building materials to bring this building back to life. The new location up the road on Route 25C was a restaurant up until the late 80's but has been boarded up for over 30 years. A complete interior restoration is needed, and as the magic continues, many patrons of the Green House that are skilled in the trades will be volunteering time. What we will need is to have the building materials on site as soon as possible so work can begin. 

 

Along with the restoration effort, we will need to purchase kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens and freezers and there are also permits that require fees to be paid.
