Maui's Medical and Pet Rescue

ALL donations will go to the R U 4 ME Pet Rescue League which has been generous beyond belief in covering all the costs associated with Maui's medical needs.

This is Maui, my friend who has always been an affectionate companion since he first started hanging around my garage. Originally named Hercules by the neighbors, I began calling him Maui after the Hawaiian island for his beautiful stature, friendly nature and best of all his vocalization, which at times sounds exactly as it's said. He is estimated to be about 3 years old.

A bit of history: In December 2014, I had to put to rest my oldest cat of 17 years, Natasha. In early February this year my youngest cat Harry succumbed to leukemia at the tender age of almost 4. Only a few days after Harry passed, Maui limped over to my garage. I noticed he was injured in that his eye was swollen with tissue exposed (more pics below) and his front left paw was scratched on top. I decided at that point to take him in and seek treatment.

Linda at the RU4ME Pet Rescue league has been so gracious in offering her services to assist Maui. He has been to the veterinarian twice for his first round of antibiotics and follow-up, then referred to a pet ophthalmologist who prescribed a second round of different antibiotic. From there he was referred to the Palm Beach Veterinarian Services group for a CT Scan.  This is where it gets costly.

The scan showed that Maui has feline lymphoma in the form of a growth behind his eye, which has merged into the eye socket bone area and also into his sinuses. Unfortunately it is too advanced to operate and chemotherapy nor radiation will help at this point. Nothing can be done for him except to maintain his comfort and provide the love and care he will need in his time with us.

We have adopted 4 kittens through RU4ME Pet Rescue and love and adore each one. Maui is no different. The real benefit here is that by your donation you are helping to save lives, many lives, by assisting in the future of this volunteer service!

Anything you can help with is most appreciated. I will provide proof in the form of receipts and points of contact for you to verify when any money is donated back to RU4ME Pet Rescue.

Again, ALL proceeds will go to the R U 4 ME Pet Rescue League which has been generous beyond belief in covering all the costs associated with Maui's medical needs.  This includes the $1,792.81 bill for Maui's CT scan, two visits to the ophthalmologist and two to the veterinarian, any future care, and lastly a very real probability which I am deeply saddened by but truly hope can be avoided, his euthanasia.
