Stained Glass Window Restoration

Donation protected
The Beverly Presbyterian Church was established in 1853. Our current location was constructed in Gothic Revival Style in 1872 and has served our congregation ever since.  In the late 1930's Paula H. Balano was contracted to make a series of stained glass windows to adorn the sancuary. She was the first woman in the US to have and operate her own glass studio and was considered the the premier artist of the Philadelphia region during the mid-twentieth century.  Her works depict the life of Christ in the Gothic Style and rivals, if not surpasses, the work of Tiffany's of New York.  The project continued for nearly twenty years until all 11 windows were completed. The largest and most magnificent being a window dedicated as a memorial to those who serve our country's armed services.  These windows, like all stained glass windows, require restoration every 50 to 75 years and are begining to show signs of deteriorization.  Lamb Studios of New Jersey have been selected perform the needed work and over the next several years each window will be removed, cleaned, re-leaded, and restored. A new outer protective glass window will be installed to protect the windows against impact and weather.  This project is costly and donations are being collected to save these presious examples of Ms Balano's work.  We hope that you will assist in their preservation for generations to come. Funds raised in excess of those needed to complete the project will be used to establish a trust for the future preservation of the windows.
