Team Ryan: Fight with Smeegz

Donation protected
Myself along with many others from our community are calling ourselves Team Ryan and want to help the Smigiel Family in their newest fight for their 22 year old son Ryan. As many of you are already aware, Ryan fought an inoperable brain tumor last year and was deemed stable this spring. Unfortunately this past week it was discovered that his tumor has progressed into his spine. Our hearts go out to this family and there is a financial need. Please read their story below and consider helping us help them. God Bless you!

2011 Essexville Garber High School graduate and DUKE, Ryan Smigiel has survived many battles in his young life, but his biggest may yet be ahead. After battling in the true spirit of his beloved Michigan State Spartans, Ryan was able to fight brain cancer this past year - and win. With the support of too many friends to count - both old and new - and plenty of bravery even during the worst of times, Ryan's tumor is considered stable. It's been almost a year now. We've seen Ryan live a normal life and return to work. We've seen him put in tireless effort and countless hours working with younger children with similar diagnoses. All the while, flashing his winning smile. With his MSU football friends Connor Cook giving him a direct shout out on ESPN during an interview, and Spartans’ defensive end Shilique Calhoun wearing his "Fight With Smeegz" wristband to every single game and flashing it proudly when the cameras capture yet another trip to the opponent's backfield, Ryan has been blessed to be so well represented by some amazing individuals. Now, more than ever, Ryan needs YOU...to "Fight with Smeegz". Recently Ryan was suffering from back pain when the doctors ordered another MRI. They found the tumor has progressed into his spine. Ryan will undergo back surgery on November 3rd where the doctors hope to get a good sample of the tumor to test it and come up the perfect chemo cocktail to fight this monster. Then he will go into treatment which will entail chemo and radiation and once again living in Detroit as he is being treated at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. His new fight is just beginning. In true Spartan fashion, Ryan is bound and determined to fight, to push back, and to WIN once again his toughest battle. With your help, the victories will be a little less lonely. Ryan's family is obviously heartbroken and devastated but will need to be far from home during the course of this next treatment. There will be many miles to travel, many doctor and hospital visits to attend. This will be taxing in so many ways - emotionally, physically, mentally not to mention financially. With your contribution, this burden can be lessened. Below are some options from which to choose, if you'd like to donate. We on Team Ryan ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we begin this journey. God Bless You and THANK YOU for choosing to "Fight with Smeegz"
