On Saturday, February 14th, 2015 the bravest person I know received some traumatic news. Darlene, a loving mother of three great little men, was having breakfast with her kids and her father when she received a call from her doctor. The following Monday it was confirmed, my beautiful friend was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Darlene will have to undergo a series of chemotherapy treatments and will be out of work for, at least, the next five months. As a single mother, Darlene has always worked so hard in order to provide for her children. We are hoping to raise money to help cover not only excess treatment costs, but also to cover the day to day living expenses and housing expenses to take care of her children during this extremely difficult time.
Darlene maintains an extremely positive outlook and attitude regarding her treatment and her ability to "kick Cancer's A$$!" With countless people rallying around her, I have no doubt that our positive thoughts and prayers will carry her through! As the truly selfless individual that Darlene is, her real concern lies with her children. She is not weeping tears, in the name of Cancer. She is upset because of the time she is going to miss with her kids. She's upset that she's going to miss her middle child's upcoming birthday. She's concerned with how she's going to pay her mortgage while she's under going treatment. This is why we reach out to you, our family and friends. All the people who love Darlene and her family. We need your help.
