Muck'in Macra Queen

Since winning the Macra na Feirme 'Queen of the Land 2016' last November, I have aimed to fundraise for two charities that unfortunately my family and friends have become all too aware of; The Irish Kidney Association & The Irish Cancer Society.

In 2012, I was diagnosed with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency or 'Alpha-1' for short is a genetic condition where I dont produce any the alpha-1 protein which is normally made in the liver. It is this protein that is reponsible for protecting the lungs form infection. For this reason I have chosen to fundraise for the Irish Kidney Association. From traveling to and from Beaumont to the Alpha-1 clinic and seeing first hand the trojan work they do for patients waiting for transplant is remarkable. So besides fundraising for two incredible charities, I aim to raise awareness of the importance of carrying an Organ Donor Card. Which the Irish Kidney Assocation have kindly provided me with should anyone wish to take.
