Help My Mom w Stage 4 Cancer Treatments

My mom is doing ok and still in the hospital. She's had IV fluids and is eating! Yay!

MD Anderson said she is too weak to tolerate chemo at this time. We are in the process of making arrangements for her to go to a nearby rehab facility. I will live with her there. She will received speech, occupational & physical therapy.

If she regains strength then she can finish chemo at MD Anderson.

Praying that she will! Thank you for your prayers for her!!

Back in the ER. My mom went to sit down and her legs buckled. I grabbed her t-shirt and pulled her toward me so she wouldn't hit her head. She sat down hard on the floor. I couldn't get her up. Called 911. Back in the ER.

I've been speaking with the MD Anderson PA about still trying to get her admitted to MD Anderson for rehab and chemo. We will find out tomorrow if her oncologist can get the chemo approved for inpatient use (it's an outpatient chemo), will she tolerate the chemo effects, will the chemo buy her any time now, is she really end stage now, etc. So much we don't know.

If they can't take her as inpatient then she will need a hospice facility or in home. She wants me to stay with her if she does go to a facility. I will live under a park bench if it makes her life better. Whatever she needs.

They will keep her in the hospital tonight to hydrate and buy time to hear from MD Anderson.

Please pray for her comfort. And wisdom as she, my brother & I make decisions for her treatment.

We are home! We got home yesterday evening. The wonderful firefighters returned to assist her upstairs. She has been resting. She is able to walk with assistance and drag the right leg along.

The neurologist explained that a new brain tumor is sitting on top of the part of the brain that controls the leg movement. This is why she is struggling to have muscle control of the right leg.

There were small things that happened yesterday such as they ripped her skin off her arm in a 4 inch patch when removing her IV tape on her forearm. Her right foot was not placed on the wheelchair and was torqued and started to be run over (thankfully my brother saw this). We consider them battle wounds to get out the door and to the car!

Home health will be setting up sessions for rehab at home.

We have been speaking daily with MD Anderson. She is still scheduled to go there for her next chemo IV infusion, tests & dr visit on May 29-31st.
